Unfurling Birth is a home birth center that was opened up by two passionate midwives. Catherine Bailey and Sarah Dinger both got into the field after realizing how important it was to give parents options that are right for them. While Sarah has gone through several home births herself, Catherine decided to pursue the field after hearing about their own mother’s experience. At Unfurling Birth, they believe that birth is a natural, physiological process. Their goal is to empower you so you can have the best experience!
Services
With Unfurling Birth, you will start out with a free one-hour consultation. During this time, you can ask them questions and have an honest discussion so you can decide if this is the practice for you. If you decide it is, you will have regular prenatal visits in a safe and supportive atmosphere. During this time, they will chat with you about symptoms and see how you are doing both emotionally and mentally. You will also discuss your birth plan. Starting around 36 weeks, you will start to meet with them at your house so they can be sure you have all you need for your home birth.
Both Unfurling Birth midwives will be there once it is time for delivery. They will monitor your baby and set up a birth pool if you decide to rent one. You can move around and get through labor however you see fit. They will remain with you for a few hours following birth so they can assist with breastfeeding and perform a newborn exam. Your postpartum appointments will take place at home.
