Honestly, finding a community in the modern age can be pretty difficult. Sometimes, it seems the more we are connected virtually, the harder it is to forge real-life friendships. You need a spot that will support you through every stage in life, and I would love to be the one to help you find it. As a Portland motherhood photographer, I spend a lot of time getting to chat with parents who have found their village. If you are looking for a spot where you can be active and build up your community, let me introduce you to MamaSpace Yoga!
1414 NW 53rd Dr, Portland, Oregon 97210
MamaSpace Yoga is a studio that was opened by Carol Gray, an experienced yoga teacher and mom herself. When Carol went through her first pregnancy in 1973, she didn’t take any prenatal yoga classes. The entire process, from birth to the postpartum stage, was a downright frustrating experience. During her second pregnancy, she started to incorporate some yoga moves to get her baby into the proper position. It worked like a charm!
Today, she works with parents all over the area to provide the same assistance that was so helpful to her. In addition to teaching yoga, she is an experienced birth worker. She combines these skills to ensure you can have assistance through every step of your journey into parenthood.
MamaSpace Yoga is here to provide you with classes through every part of your parenthood experience. Before you even get that positive pregnancy test, you can come in for their fertility yoga. Not only are you going to be led through poses that will prepare your body, but you will also get the chance to connect with other parents currently going through this same experience. They offer prenatal classes that are gentle yet effective. These classes are specifically formulated for pregnant people, and you will learn poses that will move your baby into the proper position for easier labor. They combine different styles so you can get the maximum benefits from your class.
If you would prefer, you can schedule an individual yoga class. With this option, you can work one-on-one with a teacher who will tailor the sessions to your unique needs so you can have a practice that suits you!
In addition to their in-person classes, the MamaSpace Yoga studio offers virtual classes. This is the ideal option for people who want to continue their practice but simply cannot be there in person. Their postpartum courses are designed to be paused so you can tend to your baby, take a break, and show your body the love it deserves.
With MamaSpace Yoga, you will be able to build up a community that will last for years to come. Check out their classes soon so you can decide if this is the studio for you!
